   Dmitri Samodin was born in Moscow in 1980. He finished the Moscow Academic Art Lyceum in 1998. From 1998 to 2004 he studied at the Surikov State Art Institute of Moscow and for two more years did postgraduate studies at his alma mater. A member of the Moscow Artists Union, Samodin has been a regular contributor to Russian and foreign exhibition projects since 1998.

   Samodin’s works are at the Museum of Modern Art (Belgrade, Serbia), the Art Museum of Tula (Russia), the Gorbachev Foundation and private collections inside and outside Russia. His works were exhibited at the State Tretyakov Gallery and the Moscow Museum of Modern Art. In 2009 Samodin took part in the International Biannual Exhibition of Contemporary Art in Tokyo, the International Art Manezh Fair (Moscow) and the 3rd Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art. The artist held his solo show in Moscow in 2009.

   Samodin has contributed to several Kovcheg Gallery exhibitions. In the autumn of 2011 his works were included in the Kovcheg exposition ‘Between Object and Imagination’, mounted within the Parallel Programme of the 4the Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art, and selected for show at Art.Fair (Cologne, Germany).
